PPR Vaccination Program
Date: 20th Poush, 2079 | Duration: 3 Days
This three-day Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) Vaccination Program was organized by YEAST to protect small ruminants—specifically goats—from one of the most contagious and deadly viral diseases affecting livestock in Nepal. Held in Devdaha, Rupandehi, the program vaccinated 400 goats across various local farms and households. PPR poses a significant threat to the livelihood of smallholder farmers, and this initiative aimed to improve animal health and increase resilience in the rural farming economy. Alongside the vaccination drive, farmers were provided with basic animal health education, covering topics like early symptoms, prevention practices, and emergency response in case of outbreaks. The program also fostered collaboration between Veterinary Doctor of Pioneers animal Hospital , sukhanagar and YEAST volunteers, and the farming community. This was a proactive step in YEAST’s mission to promote livestock health, food security, and farmer awareness in vulnerable regions.
